  1. Group heading to Coppinger Cove, Jasper, TN August 24th morning.
  2. Group will meet in Cartersville, GA at 7:30AM at the Cracker Barrel at Exit 290, Hwy 75 (Tentative, check back for possible changes). Depart at 8:00AM
  3. Due to extreme amount of rain, entrance to Coppinger Cove may be unpassible due to large water crossing with fast moving water. If this is the case, we will go to Prentice Cooper from the West.
  4. Vehicles should have armor (skids and sliders) as well as be in good mechanical condition.

Join us for a SAE
 scouting mission to WindRock OHV park in Oliver Springs Tennessee. WindRock OHV Park is a private, 72,000 acre off road park located in Oliver Springs, Tennessee. Trails are open to just about any type of vehicle including ATV's, motorcycles, mountain bikes, Jeep, buggies and trucks.

Trails range from gravel roads to extreme mountain terrain:
Easy trails include gravel service roads to hard packed clay trails with few if any challenges.
Moderate trails have mud, small rocks and small hill climbs.
Difficult trails have off cambers, tougher hill climbs, rocks, mud and should be attempted by experienced drivers.

There are over 250+ miles of trails and all trails are marked with trail numbers, degree of difficulty and vehicles allowed on the trails. Some of the trails are restricted to ATV and motorcycle use only, so please be cautious when entering trails to make sure your vehicle is allowed. There are plenty of different trails for all types of vehicles and drivers with beautiful mountain scenery around every corner.

Access to the OHV park requires a Land Use Permit. Each person, regardless of age or activity requires a land use permit. Copies of the trail map can be purchased at the trail head when you arrive. Trail Maps are also available at the Snack Shack, Shell Fun Food in Oliver Springs and Windrock Park Campground.

Event Details

  1. Group heading to Oliver Springs on Friday June 21st afternoon.
  2. Camping is available at WindRock Park Camping (http://www.windrockpark.com/). Hotels also available in nearby Oak Ridge.
  3. Group will meet at WindRock trail head parking lot Saturday June 22nd morning and break into groups according to interests.
  4. Individuals are welcome to stay for Sunday and drive some more.
  5. Land Use Daily Permit Fee is: Adults $17, 12 and Under $8.
  6. Land Use Two Day Permit Fee is: Adult $33, 12 and Under $16.
  7. Food and fuel are available on-site.

ANTI-FREEZE 2012

Come out and join SOLAROS on a fun filled day of trail riding for our ANTI-FREEZE 2012 event February 4th.


Join us for a fun day at Durhamtown Plantation in Union Point Georgia, ANTI-FREEZE 2012. Durhamtown is a family off road and sportsman resort. Their 4x4 park consist of 20 miles of trails with obstacles for modified trucks as well as trails designed for stock vehicles. The park also includes hill climbs, rock climbs, off chamber obstacles and plenty of mud for the mud boggers amongst us. Of course we never deny the role of other marques like Jeep, Toyota, Nissan and Mercedes that have made an impact exploring here-to-for inaccessible regions of the world. They all contribute to the mystique and allure of discovering unexplored territories.

At Durhamtown they have full hook up RV sites and tent camping for those true cold weather adventurist. RV and cabin rentals are also available.

  1. Departue from THE SHOP at 7 am February 4th. Heading to Durhamtown.
  2. Durhamtown Trails open at 9 am and close at 5 pm.
  3. Event is planned for one day, camping is availabe for those who wish to drive for 2 days.
  4. A group of members will be camping Saturday night for additional activities on Sunday.
  5. Camping details can be found at Durhamtown's website.
  6. Fee is $20.00 per truck and $5.00 per passenger/per day.
  7. Food and fuel are available on-site.

How to use the new website

I think it is time to introduce you to the various options available through the website. First you must log into the website, that is you need to register and activate your account. At present the your userid remains the same but you will need a password. There is a default password, but you will need to contact the administrator to receive it. Email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to contact the administrator.

You have probably noticed that the old forum has disappeared and that the new forum is slightly different. We have been hacked a couple of times by persons unknown who are posting porn or access to porn sites on our forum. Therefore I have disabled it.

Okay, back to the features that may interest you.

  1. You can post messages, photos and videos accessible to either individuals, groups or everyone. The is very similar to Facebook, but more robust.
    1. Access this through the Community, community profile.
    2. Update the information about yourself including your photo or advatar if you desire.
    3. It is this through this portal that you to post photos and videos. 
    4. Additionally, you can identify friends, groups for the purpose of having restricted communications.
    5. Of course you can invite people to be your friend or you can inviter people to join your group.
